Double Boiler or Melting Pan

You can use either a double boiler or an everyday kitchen pan to melt the wax. However, ideally it is recommended that you use a double boiler, which is made of stainless steel or aluminium coated in enamel. If you do use a pan, you need to keep an eye on it as the temperature of the wax can rise very quickly. Melting a wax in a pan can also cause the wax to melt at an uneven pace, so take care to stir it with a stainless steel utensil.

When using the double boiler, boil water in the bottom of the pan and melt the wax in the top part. Remember to keep the water levels topped up. It is imperative that you do not overheat the wax as it can easily ignite. To clean the double boiler, after you have poured out the molten wax, simply just wipe the bowl with paper towels.
